Karmen Williams (City University of New York)

“Too Legit To Quit: A Case for National Interoperability and Community Science” 

Background
Dr. Karmen S. Williams is an Assistant Professor in the Population Health Informatics program and Health Policy and Management department at the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy. Dr. Williams received her Doctorate in Public Health Leadership and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University. She also received a Master of Arts in Sociology at Prairie View A&M University, a Master of Science in Public Health at Meharry Medical College, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Northeastern State University. She completed a post-doctorate fellowship in public and population health informatics at Indiana University and Regenstrief Institute where she focused on systemic informatics integration. Dr. Williams serves as an active member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), the Health Equity team for the CUNY-Columbia University Pandemic Response Team, the Governance Council’s Academic Appeals Committee, the advisor of the Population Health Informatics Innovation, Research and Education (PHIIRE) Club at CUNY SPH, and the director of the AMIA For Your Informatics Podcast.
